Today, the Sacramento Police Department’s Recruiting Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team hosted a fitness challenge at Granite Regional Park.
The fitness challenge was an excellent way for our community members who may be considering a career in law enforcement to test their strength, teamwork and endurance! We had a total of 30 community members who pre-registered for the event.
The day kicked off with a 2.75 mile course run by the Sacramento Police S.W.A.T. Team. Participants were teamed up in groups of five for a timed competition in a variety of fitness tests over the span of the course. The teams were ranked according to their overall time with the goal being to beat the time that was already achieved by SPD SWAT members. Some of the fitness tests included the following:
· Push-ups
· Pull-ups
· Lunges
· Door-Breach
· Field Searches
· Equipment Carry
Following the physical fitness event, complimentary refreshments were given to participants, which were generously provided by Walmart. The remainder of the afternoon was allotted for future applicants to meet with other specialty units at the Sacramento Police Department to include recruiting, academy staff, K9, the air unit to discuss careers in law enforcement.
Participants in today’s event tested their determination, fitness and courage. We applaud their interest in the rewarding career as a professional law enforcement officer at the Sacramento Police Department.
