On Friday, June 12, 2015, at approximately 6:06 p.m., Sacramento Police Officers were dispatched to the 7200 block of 24th Street regarding a fight. When officers arrived on scene, they located a 45-year-old, black male adult who had signs of facial trauma.
Fire personnel responded to the location and transported the victim to an area hospital. Once the victim arrived at the hospital, it was determined he had head injuries and was taken into surgery. Due to the severe injuries on the victim, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene and began contacting witnesses and canvassing the area.
A preliminary investigation determined the victim was in the park with a group of other subjects when he began to fight with another subject. A moment later, there was a loud noise heard and the victim was lying on the ground with head and facial injuries.
The motive for this assault is unknown and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. The victim remains in serious condition.
