The Sacramento Police Department is excited to announce the addition of new PODS (Police Observation Devices) that will be located throughout the city. This is another tool that the Sacramento Police Department is utilizing in our efforts to prevent crime and protect the community.
The PODS were first introduced in September 2014, and have already proven to be very beneficial. Recently, officers were patrolling in the area of a POD when they received a stolen vehicle alert. Officers stopped the vehicle within minutes and contacted the driver who was not only in possession of a stolen vehicle, but also driving while intoxicated.
There are currently 16 PODS installed at various intersections throughout the city, with another four that will be added in the very near future to the locations listed below. The PODS will be equipped with license plate reading (LPR) capabilities and display the police shield logo with the flashing blue light.
