The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community’s help with providing information related to a shooting that occurred near the 100 block of Creeks Edge Way in South Sacramento.
On Monday, July 13, 2015, at approximately 9:33 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the above location regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two adults and one 4-year-old child who had all suffered gunshot injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, officers collected evidence, canvassed the area for witnesses, and searched for video surveillance. Officers determined that the victims were attending a family gathering at a park when unknown suspects arrived in a dark sedan. One suspect exited the car, fired multiple shots from a handgun and then returned back to the vehicle. The suspects then fled from the scene.
The victims were self-transported to an area hospital for treatment and sustained non-life threatening injuries. All three victims were struck in the lower extremities and are expected to recover.
During the course of the investigation, detectives released video surveillance, one week after the incident, of the suspect vehicle arriving and departing from the scene.
The video depicted the primary suspect, who is believed to be a male, exiting the left rear passenger door of the suspect vehicle and walking past the rear of the car toward the park. The suspect then returns to the same car following the shooting and reenters the left rear passenger seat. Once inside the vehicle, the driver, who appears to be a female, drives out of the area.
