The Sacramento Police Department is asking the community for help with information regarding an assault that occurred near the 1500 block of 16th Street inside of a local business.
On March 5, 2015, at 12:26 a.m., officers were called to a restaurant regarding a report of a physical assault. Upon arrival, officers quickly learned that an argument had ensued between an apparent intoxicated subject and the owner of the business, after the man was refused service.
Almost immediately after being refused alcohol, a friend of the intoxicated subject, became aggressive and threw a small blunt object, striking the owner. In an attempt to defuse the incident, an uninvolved patron observed the commotion and attempted to intervene.
The patron was suddenly attacked and physically assaulted by multiple unknown subjects near the bar area of the restaurant. The Good Samaritan suffered a serious, but non-life threatening injury to his eye. He was later treated at an area hospital.
Immediately following the incident, both of the primary suspects fled on foot and are believed to be male Asian adults. During a follow-up investigation, Sacramento Police Detectives retrieved surveillance footage from the business depicting the primary aggressors of the assault. Suspect #1 is seen wearing a light-colored, collared shirt with a dark hooded sweatshirt. Suspect #2 appears to be wearing a dark-colored, long-sleeved shirt and jeans.
Detectives are actively investigating this case, but need assistance in identifying the involved suspects.
The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this assault to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
