On Monday, September 28, 2015, at 10:55 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a report of a man who had been shot following the sound of gunfire near the 2300 block of Laramie Lane.
Responding officers arrived on scene and located the man, in his early 20s, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot injury to his upper body. Sacramento Fire personnel arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
While on scene, officers received a subsequent report indicating that an additional victim related to the shooting had arrived at an area hospital. The man, in his late teens, had suffered an apparent non-life threatening gunshot injury.
Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to begin processing the scene, collecting evidence, and canvassing the area.
Detectives believe that the unknown suspects had approached the victims on foot as they stood near an apartment just prior to the shooting. The suspects fled from the area immediately after the incident.
At this time, detectives believe this incident is not a random act and are not ruling out the possibility as being gang-related. The investigation continues to be on-going and a specific motive is still not yet known. No arrests have been made at this time.
