On Friday, October 2, 2015, at 1:31 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a report of a man shot near the 300 block of Vallejo Way.
Responding officers quickly located the man in his 20s, who had been struck by gunfire. Sacramento Fire personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Early on in the investigation, officers determined that the unknown suspect had fled from the area immediately following the shooting.
Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to begin processing the scene, collecting evidence, and canvassing the area.
During the preliminary investigation, investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspect and victim were known to each other and this does not appear to be a random act. A specific motive has not yet been determined. The investigation continues to be on-going and no arrests have been made at this time.
