On Saturday, October 3, 2015, at approximately 1:37 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 7400 block of 17th Avenue regarding the report of a shooting.
The 16-year-old male victim was outside when he was struck by gunfire. Prior to officers arriving on scene, family members transported the male to a local medical facility. From there, fire personnel transported him to a trauma center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators and Gang detectives were summoned to the crime scene to begin collecting evidence, and canvassing the area.
While a specific motive has not been determined, this does not appear to be a random act. The investigation remains very active and no arrests have been made.
