Update: Stabbing Assault

Yesterday, October 8, 2015, as everyone is well aware, Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone was assaulted just after midnight and rushed to the hospital.

The Sacramento Police Department joins the community in the desire to bring those responsible to justice. In pursuit of just that, the Sacramento Police Detective Unit, CSI and other support units are working tirelessly to identify the suspects in this case.

We appreciate the immense public interest this case has generated and hope anyone with information will soon come forward.  We thank everyone for their continued patience during the ongoing investigation.  It is essential that we do not harm the integrity of the investigation and jeopardize any future prosecution.

Where we are now: Detectives continue to interview witnesses and seek to understand the chain of events that led to the stabbing.  We know that Airman Stone was out with four friends when a confrontation with a second group of subjects occurred.  That confrontation escalated into a physical fight and the stabbing of Airman Stone.

The description of the suspects remains the same as seen in the video below: two male Asian adults wearing white shirts and blue jeans.  The two suspects fled the area in a dark colored 2009-2012 Camry.  Detectives also need to identify the female that was observed getting into the suspect’s vehicle and fleeing from the scene.

Information regarding Airman Stone’s medical treatment at UC Davis Medical Center is available here:
