The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 24-year-old John Bunch for murder; and is seeking help from the community in locating 18-year-old Jason Brown, also wanted for Murder.
In September of this year, Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives responded to a parking lot near the 3600 block of Truxel Road to investigate the fatal shooting of 53-year-old Walter Gibson. During the incident, Gibson suffered gunshot injuries to his upper body. Detectives later determined that the shooting was drug related (see original news release below).

During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Jason Brown and John Bunch as primary suspects in the case. In conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, investigators obtained arrest warrants for both suspects for murder, with a special circumstance of robbery.
This morning, at approximately 10:00 a.m., suspect Bunch (pictured below) was located in Alameda County and arrested without incident for his role during the homicide.
Brown (pictured below) remains outstanding and is believed to reside in the bay area.
The Sacramento Police Department considers Brown to be armed and extremely dangerous. Investigators believe that he may be linked to two additional homicides that occurred this year in Alameda and Fresno County.
Police are encouraging the public to immediately notify law enforcement with any information regarding Brown’s whereabouts.
The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to suspect Brown to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
