On Monday, December 14, 2015, at approximately 9:07 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a 911 call regarding a man that had been stabbed just outside of a residential apartment near the 2600 block of Rio Linda Boulevard.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was found by responding officers to be suffering from apparent stab wounds. The suspect, who was possibly known to the victim, had fled from the area prior to police arrival.
Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he received emergency medical treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
During a preliminary investigation, which included interviewing numerous witnesses and a canvass, detectives determined that the victim had engaged in a confrontation with multiple subjects just prior to the fatal assault.
Although the circumstances surrounding the assault are not immediately clear, detectives are continuing to investigate the case and no arrests have been made at this time.
