On Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 12:57 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Mack Road and Archean Way regarding a vehicle collision with injuries.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an unresponsive male adult. He was found lying in the west-bound, number one lane of Mack Road west of Archean Way. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. After interviewing multiple witnesses, and examining evidence, it appears the victim was in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west-bound on Mack Road. The suspect vehicle fled the scene after impact. Before witnesses could render aid to the victim, he was struck by a second vehicle that immediately stopped and remained at the scene until police arrived.
Investigators are checking cameras in the area for further leads and this continues to be a very active investigation.
The Sacramento Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver that fled the scene.
