The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 23-year-old Jared Richardson (pictured below) for sex assault of a minor.
In September 2015, the Sacramento Police Department began an investigation of an alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old child. It is believed that the victim was introduced to Richardson by a mutual friend through social media. The two engaged in conversation for a week before the alleged assault occurred.
The investigation revealed that Richardson knew that the victim was 14-years-old and proceeded to pick her up at a nearby gas station. Richardson took the victim to his apartment where she was sexually assaulted.
On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Sacramento Police detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained a warrant for Richardson’s arrest.
On Friday, February 05, 2016, Sacramento Police detectives took Richardson into custody at his place of employment in Roseville. He was later transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail and booked for penetration by a foreign object and sexual intercourse with a minor less than 16 years of age.
The Sacramento Police Department believes there is a possibility that there are additional victims related to this investigation. The department urges anyone that may believe they were a victim or may have witnessed any crimes connected with Richardson to contact the Sacramento Police Department.
