Sex Assault Arrest
The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 54-year-old Steven McCarter (pictured below) for various sexual assault charges, including rape.
In November 2015, the Sacramento Police Department began an investigation into an alleged sexual assault which occurred at local area motel. It is believed that McCarter picked up the victim in the area of 55th Street and Folsom Boulevard in a U-Haul truck. The two went to a local area hotel where they willingly rented a room together. Once inside, McCarter made unwanted sexual advances towards the victim. When the victim attempted to leave, McCarter physically and sexually assaulted her.
In January 2016, a separate incident was reported where McCarter was accused of physically and sexually assaulting a different female at a local motel. In this incident, the victim received a ride to a local motel from McCarter. Once there, McCarter demanded sex acts from the victim for the ride to the motel. The victim refused and McCarter continued to make unwanted sexual advances toward the victim. After several attempts to get him to stop, he became violent, ripping her clothes off. He began to physically assault her causing injuries to her body. The victim was able to defend herself with a knife and fled from the room.
On Thursday, February 4, 2016, Sacramento Police detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained warrants for McCarter’s arrest.
On Friday, February 05, 2016, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fugitive Apprehension Team took McCarter into custody at his residence. He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail and booked for rape, attempted rape, assault and battery and assault with a deadly weapon.
