On Thursday, February 25, 2016, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded Fruitridge Road and Florin-Perkins Road regarding a hit-and-run vehicle collision involving a bicyclist.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a 26-year-old, male bicyclist who had sustained life-threatening injuries. The Sacramento Fire Department transported the victim to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Due to the severity of the victims’ injuries, the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation indicated the bicyclist was riding westbound along the north side of Fruitridge Road, east of Florin-Perkins Road when a vehicle also travelling westbound on Fruitridge Road struck the bicyclist and fled.
Video surveillance was captured of a vehicle (pictured below) that was in the area at the time of the collision. The vehicle is described as a brown or tan, full-sized truck with front-end damage and is considered a vehicle of interest at this time.
