Fatal Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision – Northgate Boulevard

The Sacramento Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle that fled the scene of a hit-and-run traffic collision near the 3700 block of Northgate Boulevard.

On Sunday, April 10, 2016, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man down in the northbound lanes of Northgate Boulevard.  Upon arrival, officers found the unresponsive 60-year-old man lying in the roadway along the east side of Northgate Blvd.  Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and declared the man deceased.  The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit also responded and are handling the case.

An assessment of the scene indicated that the man had been struck by an unknown vehicle.  Prior to the collision, the man was walking north along the east side of Northgate Blvd.  The victim is described as a male black adult who was wearing dark-colored clothing and walking with a cane. 

There is no description of the suspect vehicle or driver.

Detectives are still working to determine the cause of this collision.  Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Sacramento Police Department via the Hit-and-Run Tip line at (916) 808-3060.
