On Monday, May 9, 2016 at 7:34 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the intersection of 53rd Street and Young Street regarding a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a single shooting victim lying in the street who had sustained a fatal injury. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The identity of the male victim is pending the coroner’s examination.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and began collecting evidence and canvassing the area.
The investigation continues to be active and no arrests have been made. Detectives have not yet established a motive for the shooting and are asking for the community’s help with any information pertaining to this homicide.
