Child Death Investigation

On Monday, May 2, 2016 at 9:56 a.m., the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the 3700 block of Lily Street regarding an unconscious 3-year-old child.

Upon arrival, SFD located an unresponsive 3-year-old child inside the residence with a family member attempting to perform life-saving measures.  Fire personnel immediately took over the life-saving efforts and transported the boy to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition.   The Sacramento Police Department was notified of the incident and responded to the residence on Lily Street to assist with the investigation.

Based on the serious, life-threatening condition of the child, homicide detectives along with crime scene investigators were summoned to the scene to begin collecting evidence and canvassing the area.

Despite the life-saving efforts by all who were involved, the child ultimately succumbed to his injuries on May 5, 2016.

The details surrounding the child’s death are not being released at this time as it remains an active death investigation.  No arrests have been made at this time.  Detectives are asking for the community’s help in providing any information pertaining to this incident.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking for any witnesses who may have information about the death to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or submit an anonymous tip using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
