Homicide Investigation – Discovery Park

On Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 5:42 p.m., Sacramento Fire Department personnel were hailed regarding a man inside Discovery Park (1000 Garden Highway) that had been assaulted and was in need of medical attention.

Fire personnel quickly located the unresponsive victim and transported the 31-year-old man to an area hospital for emergency medical care.  Sacramento Police officers were summoned to the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the assault.

Despite the life-saving efforts of medical personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and began collecting evidence.  It is believed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a confrontation which culminated in the victim being fatally injured.  The suspect then fled the scene.

No arrests have been made at this time.  Detectives believe that there are witnesses to the fatal assault that have not come forward and are asking for the community’s help in providing any information about this crime.

The suspect in this case (depicted in the photos below) is described as a male Black adult in his early-to-mid twenties who stands about five-feet ten-inches tall and weighs around 175 pounds with an athletic build.  He has a light complexion and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and tan cargo pants.

Detectives are also seeking to identify an associate of the suspect (depicted in the photos below) who was present during the fatal assault.  The woman is believed to be a female Black adult with a light complexion who was seen wearing a black tank top, black shorts, dark-colored shoes and a gray ball cap.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking for any witnesses who may have information about the death to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or submit an anonymous tip using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
