The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 57-year-old Michael Martis (pictured below) for having an unlawful sexual relationship with a minor.
In November 2015, the Sacramento Police Department began an investigation of an alleged sexual relationship between a student from St. Francis Catholic High School and Martis. During the preliminary investigation, it was determined the victim began to exchange inappropriate text messages in 2013 with Martis, who was her softball coach. The victim and Martis arranged to meet several times where they engaged in a sexual relationship. Martis transferred to Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills and the victim continued to meet him for sexual encounters until November 2014.
Sacramento Police Detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for Martis. On June 9, 2016, Martis turned himself into the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked for multiple charges.
