On Sunday, July 3, 2016, at 01:48 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received several reports of a shooting in the area of 20th Street and P Street.
Officers responded to the area and located an unresponsive male adult on the sidewalk along the 1500 block of 20th Street. The victim had sustained multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Responding officers rendered aid and immediately started lifesaving efforts. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and determined that the victim was deceased.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.
No arrests have been made at this time but detectives believe that this is an isolated incident with no known threat to other persons in the neighborhood. A specific motive has not yet been established but the investigation remains active. Investigators are asking for the community’s help with any information pertaining to this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
