On Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 7:52 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a call of a female adult found deceased under a freeway overpass near Broadway and Alhambra Boulevard.
When officers arrived, the Sacramento Fire Department was on scene and confirmed that the female was deceased. Initially, first responders did not observe any visible trauma to the victim’s body. As a precaution, Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives could not determine whether the deceased was the victim of a homicide or not. At that time, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office responded and took over the death investigation.
On Wednesday, August 3, 2016 an autopsy of the decedent was conducted by the Coroner’s Office. Preliminary results showed that the victim sustained trauma to her body which appeared to be consistent with being the victim of an assault.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made and no specific motive has been established at this time. Investigators are asking for the community’s help in providing any information they may have pertaining to this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
