On Friday, August 5, 2016, between the hours of approximately 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department will be conducting a Pedestrian Safety Operation known as “Wait for the WALK”.
Police officers from the Sacramento Police Department’s Entertainment Team will be on foot downtown around the main thoroughfares and in proximity to Golden 1 Center. Their main mission is to educate the community, in person, on pedestrian and driver safety. Officers can be found walking around talking to the community and handing out “Wait for the WALK” safety fliers.
The grand opening of Golden 1 Center is quickly approaching and this is just another way we are preparing and educating our community on how to be safe while navigating the downtown area. Our goal is to promote less pedestrian related vehicle accidents through education and community involvement.
The Sacramento Police Department encourages all visitors and local residents to travel safely. Funding for the “Wait for the WALK” is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
