On Monday, August 8, 2016, at 12:44 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received multiple reports of a shooting that occurred along the 8300 block of Anton Way.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an unresponsive adult male in front of a nearby residence on the 8300 block of Anton Way. The man had sustained injuries which were believed to be life-threatening. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for emergency medical care. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.
No arrests have been made at this time but detectives believe that this is an isolated incident. A specific motive has not yet been established but the investigation remains active. Investigators are asking for the community’s help with any information pertaining to this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
