On Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 10:10 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received multiple reports of a shooting that occurred along the 4600 block of 11th Avenue.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an unresponsive adult male in front of a residence. The man had sustained a gunshot wound injury which was believed to be life-threatening. Officers immediately initiated emergency care in an effort to save the man’s life. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders and medical professionals, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.
During the course of the investigation, officers detained an adult female at the scene of the shooting. Detectives believe that the woman was in a domestic relationship with the deceased man and are working determine what her involvement was in the shooting. Although an arrest has not yet been made, investigators do not believe there are any outstanding suspects at this time. A specific motive in this case has not yet been established but the investigation remains active.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
