On Sunday, September 4, 2016, at 7:03 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 3700 block of Ivy Street regarding a shooting that occurred.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a disoriented adult male in front of a residence on Ivy Street. It appeared that the man had sustained a gunshot wound. Initially responding officers immediately began rendering medical aid to the man. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for medical treatment.
Due to the extent of the victim’s injuries, Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.
Despite significant lifesaving efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
A specific motive has not yet been established in this case but the investigation remains active. Detectives believe that this is an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. No arrests have yet been made. Investigators are asking for the community’s help in providing any information regarding this incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
