On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 5:54 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to Meadowview Road/Coral Gables Court regarding the call of a hit and run involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an unresponsive 17-year-old female pedestrian. The Sacramento Fire Department responded but, despite lifesaving efforts, the teenage girl ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Based on preliminary evidence, it appears the teenager was crossing Meadowview Road at Coral Gables Court when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Meadowview Road. After the collision, the vehicle continued, turning northbound on 24th Street leaving the scene.
The suspect vehicle was described as a late 90’s dark green sedan, possibly a Honda Accord (pictured below). The vehicle may have front-end damage; however the damage may not be substantial.
The Sacramento Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the driver and the vehicle that fled the scene.
