On Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 1:32 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2100 block of 16th Street regarding the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult near the north-west corner of the 2100 block of 16th Street. The man had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound injury. Officers immediately began life saving efforts until Sacramento Fire Personnel could arrive on scene. A secondary male adult victim was located nearby who had also sustained a gunshot wound. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene and transported both victims to an area hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and Fire Personnel, one male victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The secondary victim remains in serious condition.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene to begin canvassing the area for evidence and contacting any potential witnesses.
A specific motive has not been determined and the case remains active. No arrests have been made. Investigators are asking for the community’s help in providing any information regarding this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
