On Sunday, October 9, 2016, at 2:17 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Arden Way regarding the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located four shooting victims in a parking lot on the south side of the street at that location. Officers immediately triaged the victims and requested that multiple medics respond. Personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department as well as the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals. One of the injured victims later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene to begin canvassing the area for evidence and contacting any potential witnesses.
A specific motive has not been determined and the case remains active. No arrests have been made. Investigators are asking for the community’s help in providing any information regarding this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
