Investigators from the Sacramento Police Department have arrested an individual who is possibly related to multiple robberies which occurred in the Pocket neighborhood during the month of September.
Between Sunday, September 25, 2016 and Wednesday, September 28, 2016, there were a total of six armed robberies that occurred in the area of Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive. Each of these robberies occurred between 8:50 p.m. and 5:15 a.m. and involved a single suspect who was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
In response to these incidents, officers were immediately assigned to the area daily, in both a uniformed and plain clothes capacity, in an effort to locate the suspect.
On the evening of Monday, October 3, 2016, our officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred on the 7600 block of Greenhaven Dr. While in the area, officers contacted a man matching the suspect description and detained him. Officers located evidence linking the man to the robbery that just occurred and arrested him on robbery charges.
While the investigation into this event is still ongoing, our detectives believe that this individual is responsible for a number of recent robberies that have occurred in the area. Although the ongoing nature of the investigation currently prevents us from releasing identifying information about the suspect, we would like to reassure the community that this individual remains in custody.
Our investigators will continue to investigate similar crimes that have previously been reported in the area to determine if they are related. As always, we encourage anyone who has been the victim of a crime or who observes suspicious activity to report it to law enforcement in a timely manner so that crimes patterns like these can be stopped at the earliest possible opportunity.
