On October 15, 2016 at 7:45 a.m., Sacramento Police responded to the intersection of Marconi Avenue and Connie Drive for a motorcyclist who had collided with a street sign. When officers arrived, they located a motorcycle in the roadway. The rider, a 26-year-old male was found unconscious with serious injuries. Several good Samaritans remained at the accident scene and helped the rider. Officers conducted life-saving measures until they were relieved by the Sacramento Fire Department. The subject was immediately transported to a local area hospital where he currently remains in serious condition. Due to the severity of the rider’s injuries, detectives from the Major Collision Investigative Unit responded to the scene to take over the traffic investigation. At this point, preliminary information suggests that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Marconi Avenue approaching the intersection of Connie Drive when he lost control of the motorcycle and laid it down. Excessive speed does not appear to be a factor and it is unknown at this time whether or not the motorcycle was struck by another vehicle.
