On Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 2:24 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2300 block of 51st Avenue regarding the report of a male who had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying on the south curb line of 51st Avenue. The male had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound injury. Officers immediately began life saving efforts until Sacramento Fire Personnel could arrive on scene. Despite life saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene to begin canvassing the area for evidence and contacting any potential witnesses.
This investigation remains active and no arrests have been made. Detectives have not yet established a specific motive for the shooting, but believe this is an isolated incident. Investigators are asking for the community’s help in providing any information regarding this homicide.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
