On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 12:31 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the intersection of Gloria Drive and Florin Road regarding the report of a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an unresponsive, male adult victim lying in the roadway. Officers immediately began life saving efforts. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased. Officers canvassed the area for evidence and contacted witnesses which led them to believe the suspect fled into a nearby apartment complex. A perimeter was established around the apartment building. Moments later, the suspect was located inside a nearby apartment. He peacefully surrendered and was safely detained.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene to begin their investigation.
Based on preliminary information, an argument reportedly ensued between the victim and the suspect which escalated into the suspect fatally shooting the victim. The investigation remains active and detectives believe this is an isolated incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
