On Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 7:37 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 6700 block of Tortola Way regarding the report of a woman who had been shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a female victim inside the residence who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began administering lifesaving efforts until the Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to the scene to begin canvassing the area for evidence and contacting potential witnesses.
The investigation continues to be active and no arrests have been made. Detectives are asking for the community’s help for any information pertaining to this shooting.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
