The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office has released their findings related to the Dazion Flenaugh officer involved shooting which occurred on April 8, 2016.  Based on the District Attorney’s evaluation of the facts, they determined the involved officers’ actions to be legally justified.  Below you will find the factual summary and legal basis for the District Attorney’s decision.

Any situation where the loss of life occurs is tragic and affects everyone who is involved. The Sacramento Police Department treats these incidents seriously and dedicates a vast amount of resources to ensure an accurate, thorough and transparent investigation is completed.  No matter the outcome, it is imperative that we always closely review and evaluate the actions of our officers to ensure that we maintain the highest level of service to our community.  These incidents weigh heavy on the hearts of our officers and are a constant reminder of the challenges of this profession.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Flenaugh family during this difficult time.  We appreciate the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Public Safety and Accountability for their independent investigation and review of this incident.
