On Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 2:18 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 5600 block of Wallace Avenue regarding an assault that occurred.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim inside a residence with trauma to his upper body. Despite lifesaving efforts by responding officers and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to begin their investigation.
Preliminarily, the investigation has identified that there was a physical altercation between the suspect and the victim. The suspect in this case may be known to the victim.
This investigation remains active and no arrests have been made. Detectives have not yet established a specific motive for the assault, but believe this is an isolated incident.
The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
