The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 44-year old Scott MacMillan (pictured below) for Attempted Possession of Obscene Matter of a Minor and Photographing a Person Under their Clothing.
In December 2016, the Sacramento Police Department began an investigation into alleged criminal misconduct by a teacher at Heron School. The accusation was that a teacher was using his cell phone to video tape or take inappropriate pictures of a student. School Resource Officers immediately responded to conduct a preliminary investigation before turning the case over to the department’s Sex Assault Unit.
During the investigation, detectives determined that MacMillan used his cell phone to take photographs of a female student underneath a table while in the classroom. The Digital Forensics Unit conducted an analysis of the teacher’s phone and located multiple photos of minors and adults that appeared to be taken without their knowledge.
On January 19, 2017, Sacramento Police Detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for MacMillan. Today, MacMillan turned himself into the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was subsequently booked for the charges listed above.
The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone who may have been in contact with MacMillan or may be a victim, to please contact the department.
