On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, detectives in the Neighborhood Crimes Unit (NCU) contacted the Department’s Public Information Office to assist in disseminating photos of the suspect to the community, in anticipation that someone would recognize him.
The next day, (February 2, 2017) investigators received a tip from a community member regarding the identity of the subject captured on surveillance footage during the burglary. With that information, detectives positively identified 23-year old Zachary McClurg (pictured) as the person responsible for the January burglary. Additional follow-up was conducted and detectives were able to link McClurg to four additional business burglaries.
It is because of an engaged community that detectives could solve these burglaries and prevent others from occurring. We want to thank our community for their support in making Sacramento the Safest Big City in California!
