On Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 7:18 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of Marysville Boulevard and Roanoke Avenue regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an unresponsive adult male in the roadway. Officers began life saving efforts until fire personnel arrived and took over. The Sacramento Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Based upon evidence found at the scene, investigators believe that the victim, a 63-year-old male, was crossing Marysville Boulevard at the intersection with Roanoke Avenue in a marked crosswalk. A sedan, traveling northbound Marysville Boulevard struck the pedestrian as he walked across the roadway.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The department is seeking information from anyone who might have witnessed this accident.
