The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a suspect in a recent armed robbery.
On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 9:55 p.m., the victims were walking on the bike trail near Interstate 5 and Sutterville Road when they observed the suspect off his bike, sitting next to the path. As they were walking past the suspect, he physically grabbed one of them, brandished a knife and threatened her. The suspect tried to take the victim’s purse and a struggle ensued. The victim fell to the ground and was dragged by the suspect causing her to sustain a non-life threatening injury.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on his bicycle with the victim’s purse. The purse was later recovered in the area but an undisclosed amount of money was taken from it before it was discarded.
A composite sketch was constructed based on witness and victim accounts. (see sketch) The suspect is described as follows:
• African American Male, 50-60 years old, approximately 6’0” feet tall, with a thin to medium build. He was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket with dark clothing and riding a black hybrid style bicycle. The bike was described as having raised handlebars and wide tires.
