On Sunday, April 23, 2017 at approximately 4:06 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 5900 block of 68th Street regarding the sound of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located two deceased adults in streets of the surrounding neighborhood. Both deceased individuals appeared to have suffered traumatic injuries.
Responding officers also received information about a shooting victim who had been contacted by sheriff’s deputies at another location along the 6800 block of Cunningham Way. Though the particulars of this individual’s involvement are not yet completely known, investigators believe he may have been present during the events that transpired on 68th Street.
The initial stages of the investigation led officers to a particular home on 68th Street where officers discovered an active marijuana grow operation. At this time, it is believed that a home invasion robbery may have occurred at the residence prior to the initial reports to police of shots fired in the area.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded to the scene to canvass the area for any potential evidence or witnesses. The identity of the deceased victims will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
