On Sunday, April 30, 2017 at approximately 4:34 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 7900 block of 48th Avenue on a report of a shooting that occurred.
Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male outside in front of a residence. The man appeared to have suffered traumatic injuries and officers immediately rendered aid in an effort to save his life. Personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department were also summoned to the scene. Lifesaving efforts were ultimately unsuccessful and the man was declared deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded to the scene to canvass the area for any potential evidence or witnesses. Investigators believe the person or persons responsible for the man’s death fled the scene after the shooting and no arrests have yet been made. A motive in this incident has not yet been established.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.
