On Saturday, June 17, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to a church on the 1000 block of 26th Street for reports of a vandalism.
Upon arrival, officers found the historic building vandalized with spray-painted swastikas and hate writing on the exterior of the church. That night, officers and detectives processed the scene for potential evidence and canvassed the area for witnesses.
Through the course of the investigation, an officer assigned to the Downtown Bike Unit who patrols the downtown core area of the city, identified the suspect as 23-year old, Nico Traversie. At the time he was identified, officers found him to be in custody at the Sacramento County Jail for an unrelated vandalism charge that occurred in an outside jurisdiction.
On June 21, 2017, detectives with the Sacramento Police Department responded to t the jail and additionally booked Nico Traversie for vandalism related to this incident. Traversie currently remains in custody at the Sacramento County Jail.
