On Saturday, June 24, 2017, at approximately 1:58 p.m., officers responded to the area of 13th Street and S Street after receiving a call from a passerby that there was an unresponsive male adult laying near the sidewalk. Additionally, the passerby relayed that he believed the victim had been stabbed.
When officers arrived, they located the unresponsive male adult laying in a planter near the north sidewalk of S Street. Personal belongings were found next to the victim which indicate that he was possibly transient.
Officers discovered the victim had sustained trauma to his body, but it is unclear at this time what caused these injuries. The Sacramento Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The identity of the male will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin has been notified.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded to the scene to canvass the area for potential evidence and witnesses. At this point, no motive has been established and the circumstances that led up to the man’s death are unknown.
