The Sacramento Police Department’s ‘Run with a Recruiter’ program is approaching its 200th training day. The program was started in January of 2014 as a fitness and recruitment opportunity.
Every Friday, recruiters and officers from the Sacramento Police Department workout with potential applicants to give participants the opportunity to see what a typical police academy workout is like. The workout typically entails a 2 to 4 mile run with a circuit style body-workout integrated. This is a great opportunity for participants to network with others in the hiring process as well as meet officers from our department. Participants are able to speak with recruiters one on one after the workout with any questions and also gauge their physical readiness prior to applying and gain insight on what to expect in the academy.
Many applicants have enjoyed this opportunity as it prepares them physically for the police academy. Applicants are able to make valuable contacts with members of the department who are able to assist with the hiring process, be it help or advice.
On Friday, July 28, 2017, our SPD Recruiting Team will be hosting our 200th Run with the Recruiter at our Public Safety Center, 5770 Freeport Boulevard. The run will begin at 6 a.m. This is a great opportunity to get a workout in and find out how to join Sac PD. It's open to all fitness levels and we look forward to seeing you out there!
