On Monday, July 31, 2017 at approximately 1:33 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 7700 block of Vallecitos Way for a subject who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male in his 60’s laying in the roadway. The man appeared to have an apparent stab wound to his torso. The Sacramento Fire Department was summoned to the scene and declared the man deceased at the scene.
Within minutes of officers arriving at the scene, a male in his 20’s arrived at a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident. Officers quickly responded to the hospital and detained the man without incident.
Preliminary information suggests that the two males got into a verbal argument near the roadway which escalated into a physical fight. During the fight, a knife was produced and the victim was stabbed. It is unknown what the relationship is between the two men.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to canvass the area for any potential evidence or witnesses. A motive in this incident has not yet been established.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.
