On Thursday, July 27, 2017, officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of 20th Avenue and 36th Street after receiving a call from a citizen of a man walking down the street armed with a gun. Upon arrival, officers located the armed man and attempted to contact him. The suspect was alerted to the officers and immediately fled on foot. An officer assigned to the Department’s SWAT team instantly gave chase of the armed suspect.
While running from the officer, the suspect, identified as 26-year old, Clifton Allison produced a handgun and pointed it at the officer. In return, the 10-year veteran, Officer Jeremiah Jarvis fired five rounds at the suspect. After the officer fired, Allison continued to run with the gun in hand, periodically looking back at the officer. Ultimately, Allison threw the weapon to the ground and surrendered by laying on the ground. Recognizing the deadly threat was over, Officer Jarvis holstered his weapon and safely took Allison into custody. It was determined that none of the bullets struck Allison during the incident.
