On Thursday, September 7, 2017 officers from the Sacramento Police Department were involved in an officer involved shooting of a suspect wanted in a double homicide. Two officers were struck by gunfire during this incident and were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Below is the press release regarding this incident.

The suspect in the double homicide, 41-year-old Eric Arnold was killed during the incident after he exited his vehicle and began firing at officers. Both officers that were struck are recovering from their injuries. Late last night, one of the officers was released from the hospital and is recovering at home. The other officer remains at an area hospital still recovering from his injuries.
It has been a very difficult week for law enforcement and our community. We want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support that our community has shown during this heartbreaking event.
