On Friday, September 29, 2017, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of North 14th Street just south of North B Street for a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they located the pedestrian down along the sidewalk with severe injuries. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian, a 61-year-old male, to the hospital for medical attention.
Due to the life-threatening injuries, the Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to the scene to take over the investigation.
Through investigation, detectives believe the pedestrian was on North 14th Street near the west sidewalk when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling north on North 14th Street. The vehicle briefly stopped at the pedestrian but fled the scene, towards North B Street and continued to outbound 16th Street.
Investigators are searching for:
· a dark blue or green sedan, possibly a late 90’s to early 2000’s BMW
· damage to driver’s side and windshield
The below picture was obtained from traffic operations cameras at 16th St. and Richards Blvd. (out-bound 160) and appears to be the suspect vehicle. Note the consistent damage to the left-front.
