On Friday, October 6, 2017 at approximately 5:56 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the 5600 block of 39th Avenue regarding a fight inside of a residence where a male adult had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers made entry into the house and located a male in his 60’s in the bedroom of the residence who had sustained superficial cuts. Officers also located an additional male in his 50’s, unresponsive in the laundry room of the residence who appeared to have been stabbed.
Medical personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department responded and pronounced the male in the laundry room deceased on scene. The injured male was transported to a local area hospital where he is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Preliminary investigation suggests there was a verbal altercation between the two subjects which turned violent. During the altercation, a knife was produced and the victim was stabbed.
Homicide Detectives as well as Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to canvas the area for any potential witnesses or evidence. A motive for this incident has not been established.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin notifications have been completed.
